In one, most damaging to the US, survey people of the allies of her in the war on terror, showed distrust and considered her as a threat to world peace in a hitherto highest percentage.
The poll conducted by UK’s the Guardian, Canada’s La Presse and Toronto Star, Mexico’s Reforma and Israel’s Haaretz showed that even after 5 years of initiation the war on terror, the public opinion didn’t change much regarding US and her foreign policy. In the most significant result 75% of Britons considered Bush a greater threat to world peace than Kim Jong-il of North Korea. Another 69% contemplated the world has become more unsafe due to the foreign policy taken by US.
This survey confirmed once again about the declining support for Bush. Just six months ago a 15-country survey by PEW Research Center showed almost the same outcome other than India and Russia where a strong support for the US led war on terror had been prominent. According to PEW survey the US’s presence in the Iraq had been considered a larger threat to the peace of Middle East than the Iran’s nuclear practices.
Even the Israel, closest ally of US in the region, didn’t show anything encouraging for US. Only one in a four of them contemplated that Bush had made the world safer and according to 36% of them, the US has added to the risk of international conflict.
With surveys out at a time when the interim poll is nearing in the US, Bush and his companions may not be as happy as they were even a few days ago.
